2011 Hackettstown St. Patrick’s Parade

The Hackettstown Business Improvement District (BID) in conjunction with the Town of Hackettstown is marking the feast of St. Patrick, by holding it's Third Annual Parade on Sunday, March 13th beginning at 3:30pm (Rain or Shine).

This is the third year for this parade and the only one in Warren County... it is quickly becoming a wildly popular tradition for the region!! This year's parade will be bigger than last year with additional bands and many other community groups.  Once again, guests from Hacketstown, Ireland will be arriving into town to help celebrate and march in the parade. The parade will line up on the corner of Valentine Street & Grand Avenue and march down Grand Avenue and then onto Main Street. New this year will be the parade mirroring the Memorial Day parade and increasing it's length by going all the way down to Union Cemetery.

2011 Parade is being sponsored by Mars Chocolate North America. In addition, this year all candy given out at the parade will be from the official candy sponsor: Mars Chocolate North America. The bands for this year's parade are being sponsored by Skylands Community Bank and Centenary College. The Official Car Sponsor for the parade will be Johnson Dodge Chrysler Jeep.

This year's parade, once again will be making it's way to the radio waves as WRNJ 1510AM will be broadcasting live at the gazebo on the corner of Main and Moore Streets. Don't miss out on this exciting event and tune in to hear the coverage of the 2011 parade!

The 2011 Grand Marshal will be former Mayor of Hackettstown and member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Mr. Roger Hines. Mr. Hines will be joined by his family and will be riding in a vintage green Ford Mustang Convertible.

Mr. Roger Hines was born and raised in Pittston, Pennsylvania. After receiving his Bachelor's degree from Saint Leo College in Florida, he continued his education at East Stroudsburg University where he received his Master's degree. Mr. Hines moved to Hackettstown with his wife Joyce in 1971 and was a recognized high school teacher at Roxbury High School, where he taught for 31 years.

While teaching, he served on Hackettstown Council from 1989 to 1999. After retiring from his position as a high school teacher, he went to Centenary College where he was a professor of Government and Constitutional Law until 2004. In addition to being a former Mayor, Mr. Hines is also a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus in Hackettstown.

Mr. Hines celebrates his Irish heritage by being a longtime member of 45 years to the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick. In addition to being a former Mayor 2000-2005, Mr. Hines is also a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus in Hackettstown. Mr. and Mrs. Hines are proud parents to their children Roddy, Kevin, and Amy and to their grandchildren, Riley and Madlyn.

Our parade will continue to have more bands, organizations, businesses, and community groups this year! If you are a band, organization, business, or community group that would be interested in marching in the parade (we would love to have you!), please click here.

We are looking forward to the step off of this parade and would be excited to have you join us.
