2008 Newport Rhode Island
Saint Patrick's Day Parade

Saturday, March tba 2008 12 Noon
Newport,
Rhode Island's famous parade takes place on Saturday, March tba, 2008.
The Parade starts at 11am, and proceeds from City Hall, to Washington
Square, then all the way down Thames Street to At. Augustine's Church.
Newport was heavily, and I mean heavily, settled by Irish immigrants, and
boasts a higher concentration of Irish Americans than Boston. This is an
awesome parade, made all the better by the many bars and restaurants that
line the route. For many locals, this is a true highlight of the long
Winter.

Saturday’s Providence St.
Patrick’s Day Parade Postponed Due to Weather
Providence -- The 15th Annual
St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Providence’s Smith Hill scheduled for Saturday,
March 8, has been postponed due to expectations of inclement weather. The
National Weather Service is predicting heavy rains throughout the day on
Saturday.
“We are obviously disappointed
that the parade has been postponed, but believe the best decision was to
reschedule based on the weather forecast,” said Patrick Griffin, Parade
Committee President. “It was important to the committee that the rescheduled
date did not interfere with the Newport Parade, Holy Week or Easter.”
The parade has been rescheduled
to Saturday, March 29th at Noon. The parade will step off at the
intersection of Elmhurst Avenue and Smith Street.
