This year we celebrate the Eighth Annual Sussex County St. Patrick’s Day events. The Grand Marshal’s Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, February 26 at the Lake Mohawk Country Club in Sparta. The festivities begin with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and entertainment. Tickets are $75.00 per person.

This year we are honoring Damian Ryan and Peter Slattery renowned proprietors of the Irish Cottage Inn as the Parade Grand Marshals. Please join us in celebrating their many accomplishments and contributions to our local communities in and around Sussex County.

At the request of the Mayor and Council, the Town of Newton will again host the Sussex County St. Patrick’s Day Parade scheduled for Saturday, March 19, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

We are planning to hold a Mass at St. Jude’s R.C. Church in Hamburg on March 12, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. The Irish Breakfast will follow immediately after mass, at the Irish Cottage Inn, located at 602 Route 23 in Franklin. $12.00 per person.

As you may imagine, these events come with considerable expense and are only possible through your generous support and the hard work of our committee.

The 5th Annual Sussex County St. Patrick’s Day Parade is scheduled to be held on Saturday, March 15th, 2008 on Spring Street in the County Seat of Newton, NJ with a start time of 11:30AM.  The Parade route will run through downtown Newton, along Spring Street, ending at Memory Park.  The parade will last about one hour.

This years Grand Marshals are Senator Bob Littell & wife Ginnie, whose time and energy to the community stands alone.

2006 Grand Marshal

The 3rd Annual Sussex County St. Patrick's Day Parade is scheduled to be held in Newton, NJ start time 12 noon. Newton is the county seat for Sussex County. 

The parade route is Spring Street to Memory Park. The parade should last an hour.
 

A prepared concelebrated Mass is scheduled to be held at St. Joseph's Church, Newton NJ, at 8 a.m.; followed by a Traditional Irish Breakfast in the St. Joseph's School Gymnasium.
 

2006 Grand Marshal is Ailish Hambel, Mayor of Sparta, NJ and a native of County Cork, Ireland.

On Saturday, February 25, 2006, The 3rd Annual Sussex County Grand Marshal's Dinner will be held to Honor Ailish Hambel, Grand Marshal of the 2006 St. Patrick's Day Parade.
The Dinner will be held at the Lake Mohawk Country Club, beginning with a Cocktail Hour at 6 p.m., followed by a dinner, Irish Step Dancers, Bagpipers, Irish Songs by Kindred Spirit and Lots of Good Craic!

 

The history of the recent St. Patrick's Day Parades in Sussex County, New Jersey:

 

2005 Grand Marshal Steve Oroho, Sussex County Freeholder & Franklin Borough Councilman.  Parade was held in Franklin Borough, NJ. A concelebrated Mass was held at The Church of The Immaculate Conception, Franklin NJ, followed by a Traditional Irish Breakfast in the parish hall.


2004 Grand Marshall Monsignor John V. Boland, Pastor St. Francis DeSales Church, Vernon NJ. Parade was held in Sparta, NJ.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee and The Ancient Order of Hibernians-Sussex County Division 1, St. Oliver Plunkett Division present the Third Annual Sussex County St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Grand Marshal's Dinner.  

Ailish Hambel of Sparta Township, New Jersey is the parade Grand Marshal.

The parade committee selected Ailish at our November, 2005 meeting. We selected Ailish for her tireless dedication to community service, her Irish Heritage; she is a native of County Cork in Ireland and for her dedication as a civil servant. Ailish is the Mayor of Sparta Township.  

Join us at a dinner in her honor on the evening of Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the Lake Mohawk Country Club, Sparta, New Jersey.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Sussex County!

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee and The Ancient Order of Hibernians-Sussex County Division 1, St. Oliver Plunkett Division present the Third Annual Sussex County St. Patrick’s Day Parade. 

The parade will be in Newton on Saturday, March 11, 2006. The parade, scheduled to begin at 12 Noon, will step off down Spring Street and end at Memory Park. 

Join state, county and local dignitaries along with police, fire Ems and a variety of marchers in celebration of a “Great Day for the Irish and a Great Day for all citizens of Sussex County.” 

Please note that there will be a pre-parade Mass at St. Joseph's R.C. Church beginning at 8:00 a.m. followed by a Traditional Irish Breakfast in the gym at St. Joseph's School.
