NY Saint Patrick's Parade in the State of New York (NY)

The Eastchester Irish American Social Club (EIASC) is proud to sponsor Eastchester’s 7th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday March 13th, 2011. This celebration has become a tradition and a source of pride and enjoyment for Eastchester and its surrounding area residents. The EIASC is delighted to announce that this year’s Grand Marshal will be Anne Hendry, with Liz Ahern selected as Parade Honoree.

Anne Hendry is co-founder of the Hendry School of Irish Dance. In addition to performing at EIASC events and various functions throughout our town, the school placed six times at this year’s Oireachtas. In 2003, Anne received the Eastchester Citizenship Award due to her work and kindness in helping a neighbor whose lives were torn apart by a fire in their home. Anne was raised in Rego Park, Queens by her father Joe Sullivan, himself from Rego Park, and her mother Norah Joyce Sullivan, who immigrated to the United States in 1958 from Connemara, Co. Galway. Anne and her husband, Jim, are residents of Eastchester for the past eighteen years and have two children, Danny and Siobhan.

Liz Ahern has been an active member of the EIASC for twelve years and is also a committee member for the Swazi Legacy, a charity organization that raises awareness and funds for orphans in Swaziland, South Africa. Born and raised in the Bronx, Liz is the fifth of six children to Jim and Betty Shea from County Kerry in Ireland. Liz and her husband, Brendan, have lived in Eastchester since 1993 and are the proud parents of three children, Danny, Erin and Timmy.

Anne has chosen as Joe Sullivan and Kathy Sullivan as her Aides. The 2011 parade is stepping off at 3:00 p.m. beginning at Immaculate Conception Church

in Tuckahoe and marching north on Route 22 to the Lake Isle Country Club. This parade is one of the fastest growing in Westchester County and will feature eleven Pipe Bands, six Brass Marching Bands and over 25 marching groups, including the Police and Fire Departments and a United States Army unit.

7th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday March 13th, 2011 at 3pm.

We are excited to announce this year's Grand Marshal's will be Mike Hynes & Stephen Carty.  Mike Hynes hails from County Galway, Ireland.  He emigrated to the US in 1986.  He is not only a member of the Eastchester Irish, but also the AOH Division 3, Nassau Irish and the Eire Og ("Aero") Gaelic Football Club.  Stephen Carty hails from County Tipperary, Ireland.  He emigrated to the US in 1998 and is currently a member of the Tipperary Hurling Club.  He has been a member of the Eastchester Irish since 2006 as well as a member of the Eastchester Chamber of Commerce.

Both men are the proprietors of the highly successful Mickey Spillane's on Rte 22 in Eastchester and Molly Spillane's in Mamaroneck and have been supporters of our organization and parade since its inception.

Mike has chosen Tony Spillane & local favorite Peter O'Connell as his aides.  Stephen has chosen his Dad John Carty and best friend Joseph Hogan to stand beside him as aides.

Margaret Murtagh & Nancy O'Neil will be Honorees.  Margaret has served as past President of the Eastchester Irish and Lake Isle Committee Chair.  Nancy has served as Correspondence Secretary and Raffle Chair.

The 2010 parade will begin at Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe, march north on Rte 22 and end at the Lake Isle country club.  The parade is Westchester County's fastest growing St Patrick's Day Parade and will feature 20 marching bands including 12 bagpipe bands and over 50 marching groups.
