Saint Patrick's Day Parade

2010 PARADE GRAND MARSHAL
The Grand Marshal Is Chad Donnelly & it is
dedicated to J. Peter Dugan
The 54th Annual Newport, Rhode Island Saint Patrick's Day Parade will be
held, rain, snow, or shine, on Saturday, March 13th 2010. It will begin
promptly at 11:00am from Newport City Hall and will proceed to Carroll
Avenue at Saint Augustin’s Church in the heart of the Fifth Ward. The
parade this year is estimated to last 2 hours and will include 10 Pipe
Bands, 12 Marching Bands, 4 Fife & Drum Corps, 3 Clown Units, 7 reenactment
units, and a host of local, state, and regional organizations including
police and fire units, social/fraternal organizations, Boy Scouts, Girl
Scouts, Schools, and non-profits.
The Newport
Saint Patrick's Day Parade is always held on the Saturday preceding March
17th (St. Patrick's Day), unless the 17th is a Saturday in which case it is
held on that day.
GRAND MARSHAL ROAST

St. Augustine's Church Hall, 5 Harrison Avenue,
Newport, RI 02840
The roast is honoring this years Grand Marshal, Michael C. "Chad"
Donnelly. The event will begin at 1:30pm and will end when all roasting in
completed. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. For advanced
tickets call 846-5081. The roast includes a lunch with refreshments.
BIG DADDY AWARD CEREMONY AND
PRE-PARADE PARTY

This year’s winner is IHOP Restaurant in
Middletown, RI owned by Karen and Bill Cardinal.
This is a free event. Hors d'oeuvres will
be served. Entertainment will include bagpipe music and other entertainment.
Special guests include Big Daddy Award
winners Bill and Karen Cardinal.

FAMILY CELEBRATION

1:00pm to 4:00pm at the "Hut", on Golden
Hill Street, Newport, RI 02840
This event is a non-
alcohol event. There will be entertainment with; Bag Pipers, Irish step
dancers, pirates, live music, and more. There will be a “How Green AM I”
contest with cash prizes and an "Irish Dog Breeds" contest with cash prizes
as well as a free entry $100 cash door prize. There will also be giveaways.
Admission to the event is free.
The 2010 parade
will be held on Saturday, March 14th.
